LOWCHEN BREED STANDARD

 

 

STANDARD FOR THE

LOWCHEN

 

GENERAL APPEARANCE Small intelligent and affectionate dog with a lively demeanor combining all the qualities of a companion dog. The body is clipped in a classical poodle fashion and the tail which is also clipped ends with a tuft, making him look like a little lion.

 

HEAD
Short, skull rasher wide Faults: Too long, skull not wide enough

 

NOSE
Black, well in the continuation of the muzzle. Faults: Spotted, any other color than back and turned-up.

 

EYES
Round, large, intelligent and dark. Faults: Insufficient length, lack or absence of fringes.

 

BODY
Short and well fringed. Faults: Too long, disjointed poorly knitted

 

LEGS
Straight and slender. Faults: Out at pastern or bow-hocked.

 

FEETS
Small and round. Faults: Splay, long and spreading.

 

TAIL
Medium length, clipped, but leaving a clump of hair at the end of it to form a beautiful panache. Faults: Too long, too short.

 

COAT
Rather long and wavy but not curly. Faults: Too short, lack of waves, curly.

 

COLORS
All colors are permitted, either uincolor or with spots, the most sought after colors being white, black and lemon colored.

 

HEIGHT AT WITHERS
From 20 to 35 cm.

 

WEIGHT
From 2 to 4 kg

 

Dogs not groomed as per standard will not be judged.
